Judith Glynn, M.Sc. Principal – Strategic Science
Judith Glynn has 25 years of public sector experience and offers a rare breadth of skills that span scientific research, public policy, negotiation, strategic planning, marketing/communications, human resources leadership, financial management, and administration.
Judith is an internationally recognized expert on gambling and problem gambling. She is Advisor to the Asian Pacific Association for Gambling Studies and a member of the International Think Tank on Gambling Research, Policy and Practice. She provides a unique understanding of complex relationships, having worked to develop and market the government’s gaming policy agenda, before managing from start up the world’s largest problem gambling research fund. Judith established collaborations between researchers and the agencies that operate and regulate gambling and treat problem gambling. She worked with vulnerable populations such as women and First Nations and aboriginal peoples to address their research needs. She understands deeply the scientific research community and the public sector bodies that fund research.
Judith’s graduate research on market challenges and implicit rewards in the horseracing industry produced recommendations for marketing horseracing. She has conducted qualitative research studies using methods of observation, focus groups, interviewing, visual methods (video and still photography) and historiography.
At the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Judith held senior policy and communications roles, managing portfolios such as mental health, health economic development and hospital restructuring. At the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, she coordinated marketing and communications on industrial strategies for retail, consulting engineering, plastics, construction, auto parts, furniture, aerospace, electrical/electronics, biotechnology, machinery and apparel. Judith wrote Ontario’s white paper and managed public consultation on reform of regulatory and adjudicative agencies.
For more than twenty years Judith has volunteered with The Arthritis Society, as Board member and as spokesperson addressing intimate groups of four and auditoriums of 4,000. Judith is passionate about consumer empowerment and her role as an advocate for the Society. She has appeared in TV and radio commercials, on talk shows with Valerie Pringle and Marilyn Dennis, co-chaired a consumer conference for several years, and co-hosted fundraising events with hockey great Gordie Howe and Jazz starlet Diana Krall.
Judith is a proud member, supporter and volunteer with PFLAG Canada.
Judith has the relationships, knowledge and skill to bring disparate parties together to achieve challenging ends. She is excited by contentious issues and difficult challenges, devoting warmth, and drive to the achievement of far-reaching objectives. Judith has repeatedly demonstrated that she can envision and implement innovative collaborations and solutions to ensure lasting change and shared success.
