our work

Alberta Gambling Research Institute – Vickii Williams

Judith offers great insight into gambling and problem gambling and is a natural collaborator, seeing common ground and rallying collective energy wherever possible. She helped define a meaningful mandate for the Canadian Consortium for Gambling Research and identify priorities for research and knowledge translation that are mutually beneficial for member organizations with diverse perspectives from across Canada. More recently Judith helped us at the Alberta Gambling Research Institute (AGRI) to translate an ambitious project idea into a well-articulated proposal with clearly defined objectives and steps to achieve them. She quickly and thoroughly understood the nature and scope of our project, providing a comprehensive environmental scan and organizing consultation that is innovative and customized to the needs of AGRI and our key stakeholders. I look forward to our continued collaboration with Judith and Strategic Science.

Universite Laval – Robert Ladouceur, Ph.D.

When asked to help inform responsible gambling research, policy and practice for the Department of Social Welfare in Macau we sought out the knowledge and expertise of Judith Glynn of Strategic Science. As co-author, Judith is providing invaluable insight for our report to the University of Macao. Her background and expertise in policy development will greatly enhance the standing of the deliverables.

Lorne Korman, Ph.D., R.Psych.

We recently contracted with Strategic Science. I have been really pleased with the quality of their services. Strategic Science has provided us with a wide range of services and research solutions including help with methodological and analytic challenges. They have been attentive and extremely responsive to our needs, have taken the time to understand our research, and they have produced under tight deadlines. They have been a pleasure to work with, and I would definitely recommend Strategic Science to other researchers.

David Nussbaum, Ph.D.

A major aspect of my research involves consideration of neurotransmitter and hormone interactions in a complex multi-component decision-making model that explains poor executive function and decision making. The model has broad application across addictions involving substances and behaviours. One salient aspect of the model involves the short-circuiting of rational examination of multiple aspects of a decision by faulty motivational and emotional regulation circuits. Judith appreciated not only the conceptual and theoretical contribution but was very helpful in moving the research agenda forward, by her sensitivity to perspectives of peer reviewers and funders, while maintaining focus on the ultimate contribution of the research, to improve lives. Her attention to details furthered implementation and dissemination of my research that will lead to positive outcomes that will improve the assessment and treatment of high risk populations.
